kingalien, please add more thoughts of yours. If you want to start your own thread (you'll need to register to create a new topic), you can do that, too, and maybe I'll even link a front-page story to your thread.
For both of you, please feel free to add lots more photos. I'm especially interested in seeing photos comparing the Zodiac to other PDAs. I've already got a front-page blurb which shows the Zodiac next to the Tungsten C and Kyocera 7135 Palm OS smartphone, but any other PDA comparisons you can come up with would be great.

That's too bad. How does the sound compare in terms of overall quality, though? As I said in my last comment, please take lots of photos comparing the TT3 to the Zodiac.
Peter, how would you compare the quality and volume of MP3s to the old Tungsten T (and please specify if your TT has the patch Palm released a while back which boosts the volume).

I can give you some comparison photos with other handhelds. Note that the Zodiac doesn't quite sit flat because of the stylus holder on the back. Also, forgive the lighting, angle, and sloppy cropping:

Great pics, Peter... and you obviously have an even greater toy/gadget budget than I do
What sort of range do you get with the bluetooth network? The Z almost looks like a smallish tablet PC to me, and with a decent browser and email client it could let me do a lot of things that I'd do with a tablet PC (e.g., follow this thread).

Definitely not my budget, it's my employer's. I honestly haven't used the Bluetooth network much, I'll get back to you on that when I do. My experience with the Tungsten T's is that the PicoBlue we have at work has fantastic range, as good as the 802.11b. It's a Class 1 or Class 3 or whatever-the-good-one-is Bluetooth radio. I imagine the D-Link dongle I have at home has quite a bit less range.
Some other handheld comparison pics:

One potential bummer: I noticed that you have to scroll horizontally when browsing a "regular" web site. So there isn't any "squeeze to fit" mode like on so many other browsers?

I dunno -- I'd rather get people to create slimmed-down versions of the key pages of their sites instead of forcing the growing number of handheld users to browse pages that are designed for 1024*768 and thus simply not suitable for devices with the limitations of a handheld or phone.
I know you put a lot of effort into creating a mobile version of your own sites, which I think work very well on small screen devices (as long as people don't post a dozen or so large-screen photos of handhelds in their threads... sorry, just kidding, Peter -- those are lovely and very useful pics).

Great photos Peter! Muchas gracias! I especially liked seeing the Zodiac next to the Sony (NR70, right?). They look pretty close size-wise. The Zodiac seems a tad bit wider at its widest parts, but probably narrower at its narrower parts. The curved design probably helps it feel smaller than it really is.
ocs, I agree that making separate mobile-friendly versions of web sites is the better approach, but the fact is that if you're on the go and you want/need to look up a site that doesn't have a mobile site, you're stuck with the full version and it would be nice if your browser could give you the option of squeezing it or displaying it full-size with horizontal scrolling. I don't think a "Web Browser" gives you a choice, which may be why Sony and palmOne went with alternative browsers (I think) on their latest devices.
On that note...Peter, have you tried running palmOne's web browser on the Zodiac? I realize that there are licensing issues about beaming it from your TT3 to the Zodiac, but if it works I would imagine that many people would be interested in paying for a copy from palmOne (I believe they offer it for download).
One other thing...I noticed that you're not using the default app launcher on the Zodiac. Did you decide that you preferred the old fashioned method? The new launcher sounds very well designed, but for someone like me who will probably want to use this as a PDA first and gaming console second, I would probably want to keep it in portrait mode most of the time, so I'm wondering if that may be why you switched that launcher off. Regarding that, I believe I read that pressing the home button always forces the device into landscape mode. For my usage pattern, that could be a pain. If true, hopefully they (or someone) will issue a patch/hack to allow you to change that default behavior.

Aren't both based on Netfront?
It would be nice for someone to create a comprehensive browser comparison for Palm devices (goodthatway?) that explains the differences between the various browsers, and also documents what browser is available for and works on what device.

Ska, I see you've reared your ugly over here as well. If you don't like the Palm OS, why are you one of the most active users of every Palm OS forum out there?
