Dude, why do you hit every thread about the Zodiac to flame it? The Toshiba is nice, granted, but there's no need to live your life around it. |

| its about the same size, length and width wise, as the gba tho is it much thinner. I wouldn't really call that big. You don't want a gaming device to be to small. If the zodiac was any smaller it would be to hard for people with large hands(like me) to use. It's nearly impossible for me to play games on the gbasp. Just toooo small. |

No, it's huge. That's what my wife s- oh, you mean the tapwave. Same size, about, as the iPaq. What's huge about that? Slim, too! |

There you go ladies and gents. Tapwave is not big.
Amazing isn't it how things change? Anybody wonder what the size of PSP will be compared to this tapwave?

Scott -- the Palm Web Pro 3 from the T3 CD installs on the Zodiac, but it is angry ("You are not authorized to run this application.") It does sort of work despite the licensing issue, but oddly enough, it does not use the extra width on the Zodiac (which I thought was provided with the same API on the T3 and Zodiac; weird.) The "Handheld View" seems to run exclusively through a palmOne proxy server, and not be a feature of the handheld app itself. Also, Palm Web Pro 3 appears to be based on the Novarra browser, not NetFront, so it IS a completely different beast. Based on my brief attempted usage, I wouldn't really call it compatible with the Zodiac.
The Zodiac photographs big, but could you realistically make a handheld with a screen that big with a controller on either side any shorter? Would a "flip Zodiac" like the Gameboy Advance SP still be as comfortable to hold for gaming? I don't know. The curves and thinness really do a lot to make it seem smaller than it is-- I remain in awe of the design.
The launcher you saw is still Canaveral, the Zodiac Launcher-- that's just the view after you press the "All" item. Landscape is growing on me. Good thing, because there is no way to flip to portrait either from the main view or from the All page! |

Peter, thanks for the heads-up about the palmOne Novarra browser. That's too bad. What's worse, is that it seems like palmOne has an exclusive arrangement with Novarra, so I'm not sure how likely we are to see Novarra release a standalone Zodiac-friendly version.
Regarding the size concerns about the Zodiac, I suppose a flip-design along the lines of the CLIE UX-series (but with gaming controls instead of a thumbboard - or even better, gaming controls and a thumbboard - along the lines of the Danger Hiptop/Sidekick) could allow you to make a shorter, but thicker, device. Throw in a phone and a camera, and I think you've got the ultimate device. As it is, though, I don't see the Zodiac as being too huge, but I'll reserve final judgement till I get mine and can put it in my front pants pocket.

| Scott - I don't agree with the idea for a "thicker" device. Thinner is more easily pocketed - to wit, the Toshiba e740 and the Casio E-11x series. |
