Given the success of Mozilla's tabbed browsing, I don't see why small-screen browsers haven't adopted this yet.
Are there any open source Palm browser projects in the works?

ocs, the Palm developers are just running late is all. The PPC, warts and all, had the capability to do all of these things since the first version of the PPC OS, while the Palm OS hasn't really had the power/memory to do it until OS5/ARM. It took the PPC until fairly recently to get tabbed browsing (3rd party apps - Pocket IE which comes built-in doesn't have it), but I would expect the Palm OS developers to add it within the next six months. Hopefully it will be much sooner than that.

I don't really see a reason why devices like the Treo 180 or 300 couldn't support a browser with tabbed interface. They have "plenty" of RAM (okay, sufficient RAM), and the browsing experience is really mainly limited by the network speed and the fact that the screen resolution is fairly low. The tabs could actually help improve the experience.
But of course, there's no point in looking back when the Fedex guy with the Zodiac box is going to knock on my door any minute (or day... or week) now. :-)

The Zodiac photographs big, but could you realistically make a handheld with a screen that big with a controller on either side any shorter? Would a "flip Zodiac" like the Gameboy Advance SP still be as comfortable to hold for gaming? I don't know. The curves and thinness really do a lot to make it seem smaller than it is-- I remain in awe of the design.

Zodiac doesn't 'photogrpahs' big. It IS big. It is also amazing how people start rationalizing feature vs. size all of a sudden. (screen dual d-pad vs. size). Why should Tapwave is not a 'Brick' all of a sudden, when it's bigger than the rest of the big bricks out there, NX, h5550, X5, e800 with bigger screen even. ... (yeah right).
And yes, the PSP will be smaller and sleeker than Tapwave.

If I dont' does it mean Zodiac is not 'Big' compared to the biggest handheld out there?
Or will owning it will magically shrunk the device into the size of say T|E? (unless when it's being photographed of course.) |

Back to topic - I bought a Treo 600. Would be nice if Sprint had bluetooth phones so I could wirelessly get on the Interweb with a Zodiac.

I got a Sprint Treo 600, too. Forget about bluetooth -- it would be nice if Sprint/Handspring could get the data service to work on it, which is why people buy this $400-$500 device. But that's another (frustrating) story for another Bulletin Board.

Dude, my Sprint Vision service works like a champ. Been a savior for meetings. What issue do you have? |

If you had a valid, substantiated argument, I would welcome it. I wish there was an /ignore function. |

Good for you and the many others who have no problems. :-)
I and some other folks simply can't get the data service provisioned (the provisioning attempt fails with error 3000, which supposedly means "no data service in this area", which is incorrect since my Vision laptop card 10 inches away from my Treo connects just fine).
There's a a couple of lengthy threads (this one and this one) on TreoCentral about it if you care about more details -- I guess we should stick more closely to Zodiac stuff here (especially since the whole experience with Sprint/Handspring has been so frustrating so far that I'd rather think about the fun I will have with the Z).

You really should just ignore him. He infests quite a few other boards starting up arguments and flamewars for no apparent reason. |
