Great Prices On SD Memory Cards
512MB for $75 and a possible $100 Panasonic deal
With the holiday weekend approaching, I suspect that incoming news may be a bit slow.  So how about some memory card deals?

Buy.com has a 3-day Memorial Day sale going on and you can get the 512MB SanDisk SD card for $94.99 with free shipping.  Techbargains is also stating that they have a $10 off $100 coupon (good even for existing customers - which is rare for them), so if you add another item that costs more than $5 to your cart, you can even save $10 more.  I'm not exactly sure how to get that coupon to work, so you may want to try the link that's on Techbargains' site.

The other day I also came across this Dane-Elec 512MB card for $99.99 at TigerDirect.  Shipping is extra (and a bit high - the cheapest for my location was about $10).  One reason I'm pointing out this deal is because there is a possibility that this card might actually be a Panasonic-manufactured card.  If so, that would mean that this is a card capable of very fast write speeds.  Google searches I've done have indeed turned up user reports that Dane-Elec has rebranded Panasonic cards in the past.  Whether or not they still do so is unknown, so don't blame me if it's not.  Hey, even if it's not a Panasonic card, it's still a pretty good price.

Also, I've mentioned this before and I'll mention it again, if you aren't already a member of Ebates, do yourself a favor and sign up now.  And if you want to support Tapland in a small, but much appreciated, way, please use this link and they'll toss us a few bucks.

I've used Ebates for a long time and have always gotten my checks.  For those unfamiliar with Ebates, it lets you get additional savings from a HUGE number of online retailers, and they're not just technology-related stores.  Once you're signed up, you basically just need to use Ebates' site as your entry portal to whichever store you want to shop at.  Alternatively, you can install their "Moe Money" plugin which will automatically pop up whenever you access a site that offers an Ebates discount.  Then, you just buy whatever you want to buy as usual.  And you can still use whatever other coupon codes you may have.  Depending on the discount percentage that the site offers for Ebates users (both Buy.com and TigerDirect offer 2%), that amount will be added to your next Ebates check.  So long as you have more than $5 in your Ebates account, they'll mail you out a quarterly check.

Can't afford $100 or you just need something a bit smaller?  TigerDirect also has a 256MB Viking card which, after a $20 mail-in rebate, will cost you just $33.99 (plus shipping).  I believe either SanDisk or Toshiba make Viking's cards.  If you want a Panasonic-made card, this SimpleTech 256MB card at ebuyer should fit the bill.  It's a bit more expensive at $49.52 (though shipping is more reasonable at under $5) and there's no rebate, but I've got one of these and am pretty sure they're still using Panasonic-made cards.  Note that ebuyer does not offer any discount for Ebates users.

Update:
Yet another great deal has popped up.  If you don't mind dealing with rebates, you can get the SanDisk 512MB card from newegg for $99.99 with free shipping.  Then, just use this mail-in rebate to save another $25.  Final cost just $74.99!  That rebate is only good if you buy that card from newegg, so don't try saving $5 by buying it from Buy.com and then try using this rebate.  Sadly, newegg is among the precious few who also don't participate in Ebates.
