Tapwave has officially announced their plans for expanding Zodiac sales into European markets. The Zodiac will be available in retail stores in the UK later this fall, in time for the holiday season.
Tapwave has timed this announcement with the first day of the 2004 European Game Network trade show as well as ECTS, a trade only event. These shows are taking place simultaneously in London, England and Tapwave has a presence at both events. Tapwave will also be a premiere sponsor of the upcoming Palmsource Euro Devcon 2004 later this month in Munich, Germany.
According to the press release, the Zodiac should be available in the UK this holiday season, and Tapwave is expanding their operations to Europe by retaining the services of UK-based PR and Marketing group Barrington Harvey. Tapwave has also hired Andrzej Kasprzyk as the company's Director of European Sales and Roy Parker as Director of International Operations in order to establish a presence and legal entity in Europe.
The Zodiac 1 and 2 will be offered for sale in the UK market and will include the international charging kit. These UK Zodiacs will also have the 1.1 software suite pre-installed.
According to the press release and as we reported in our NEPUG coverage, Tapwave will be using the UK launch and presence to expand into other European markets at some time in the future.
Update (9/3/2004):
Tapwave has updated their FAQ to reflect the official announcement of European expansion. While the answers are short on specifics, they do answer common questions about the international expansion and offer Tapwave's official stance on unauthorized international sales from resellers.
