The long-awaited aluminum case for the Zodiac became available today. Interest in a hard case has been high since a prototype was sighted at the Electronic Entertainment Exposition (E3) 2004 by Eric Vogel of Zodiac Gamer. However, until Taplander Oliver Steinmeier's trip to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January, there seemed little hope that the case would become available to Zodiac owners.
The new case appears similar to that shown in Oliver's photos. It features a molded clamshell design, neoprene lining, a removable belt clip, and space inside the lid for two SD cards. Openings in the case allow access to the stylus, sync port and headphone jack. The case measures in at 5.9"W x 3.42"H x .92"D and weighs 2.9 ounces. Tapwave's mention of a one-year warranty through Innopocket appears to confirm speculations that the latter company is the manufacturer.
The case is expected to provide a much-needed alternative to current offerings. It is available for $29.99 and can be purchased at the Tapwave Store.
