| You're inviting me to your Bluetooth party?!? |
It seems that my recent story about cheap Bluetooth phones got someone at Vasara Games' attention. While I like to kid the sidetalkers, I actually think the N-Gage, and the Symbian / Series 60 OS platform that it's based on, is pretty cool. Well, if you happen to have some friends who bought "that other game console," you'll be happy to learn that Vasara Games' Arto Astala has informed me that they expect to release StuntCar Extreme for the N-Gage this month. Why should this make you happy? Because the multiplayer mode is compatible with the Zodiac's version of SCE, that's why!
Chances are you won't see either Tapwave or Nokia's marketing departments advertise this feature, but I think it's a wonderful idea, and I hope to see other cross-platform developers implement this sort of thing. Who knows...maybe this could actually help Tapwave's financials once N-Gage owners compare how SCE looks in all of the Zodiac's high-res glory. While the N-Gage version will be out this month, the game is expected to be released in a more generic Series 60 version (e.g. - for playing on a Nokia 3650 smartphone) at a later date.
Or, why not buy an N-Gage to go with your Zodiac? You can use it as a Bluetooth GPRS modem for your Zodiac. And when you get bored and lonely, just hand it over to a friend and challenge them to a game of SCE.
